People need to eat in a daily basis in order to have the energy to face the challenges of the world. It is often said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and food should be consumed at a high level during breakfast, because there may be times when there is no time to eat lunch due to the busy schedule, and the next full meal is dinner Breakfast is not complete without bread, and even during lunch or dinner, bread is often present.

What is bread?

Bread is defined as a staple food that is made from a flour dough and water and typically baked. It is one of the earliest artificial foods since the beginning of agriculture. There are various ways to prepare and cook bread, mostly it differs in the region, country, and tradition. There are hundreds, if not thousands of styles, shapes, sizes, and flavors of bread all around the globe, and bread is used in many ways such as sandwiches, bread crumbs, bread pudding, and stuffing.

Though bread is a universal food and without realizing it, people are in some way addicted to bread, as everyday bread is a part of the daily food intake. However, bread is whole grain and is a carbohydrate, and high amount of carbohydrate is not good for the health. People suffering from obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and other diseases are cutting carbohydrate in their diet, reduce and eventually eliminate the intake of bread in the system.

What happens when bread is cut out from the diet?

Low-card diet is a craze among many people who are intending to lose weight. In truth, less amount of carbohydrate can lead to a slimmer figure, but it is actually water that is lost in not eating bread, not the fat. As glycogen, carbohydrates are stocked three to four times in water three to four times more than in any other components of the body. No bread results in zero bloating, because water weight loss happens when carbohydrates are reduced in the diet.

Brain fog

Carbohydrates are turned into glucose in the body and it’s the primary fuel for the brain. Without bread and following a low-carb diet, the brain will starve for fuel, and it results to brain fog or fuzziness, feeling of confusion, and slurred speech. The brain is always hungry for fuel, and the lack of bread will definitely has its effects during the first weeks of the no-bread diet. However, not eating bread can result in many good things in the long run, especially for people suffering of diabetes.

What to replace bread with

Bread can be replaced by consuming salmon, flaxseed and walnuts, chia seeds, lower-carb fruits such as berries, and green vegetables. It is quite hard to stop eating bread especially when it is food that is present ever since childhood, but sometimes sacrifices are needed in order to keep healthy body.
